  1. Mix the yeast into the warm water.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the salt and flour.
  3. Combine the flour/salt mixture and the yeast/water mixture, stirring.
  4. Continue stirring until the dough holds together and is not wet.
  5. Place on a clean, dry surface and kneed until smooth; probably about 10 minutes.
  6. Divide and shape into 3 loaves and place on a greased or parchment paper covered baking tray.
  7. Grease the top of the loaves with butter.
  8. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and set in a warm place to rise.
  9. Let rise until approximately twice the size, which may take 30-60 minutes depending on temperature (or leave overnight).
  10. Preheat an oven to 450° Farenheit.
  11. Cut several diagonal slashes across the top of each loaf.
  12. Bake for 18 minutes at 450° Farenheit (or perhaps a little less).
  13. Remove from the oven, remove from the baking tray and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes.
